The Veteran’s Leadership Committee will utilize the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), Criteria and Benchmarks for Achieving the Goal of Ending Veteran Homelessness, developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to assess the community’s response to homelessness and guide all efforts toward achieving the goal of ending homelessness for Veterans.  Criteria and benchmarks are intended to help communities drive down the number of Veterans experiencing homelessness to as close to zero as possible, while building systems that support long-term, lasting solutions that can effectively and efficiently respond to future needs. The Committee will coordinate its work with other Committees under the governance of the CoC including Service Delivery, Coordinated Entry, Outreach, UNITY Advisory, and Consumer Advisory.

The Veteran’s Leadership Committee shall be responsible for the following activities, which will be presented to the Executive Planning Committee for information and/or as recommendations for approval:

  • Assess and monitor progress on Federal Criteria & Benchmarks and other key data elements
  • Development of the community’s plan for ending homelessness for Veterans
  • Policy analysis and development in regard to protocols needed to meet the USICH Criteria and Benchmarks
  • Review and development of processes and documentation (ex. by name list and case conferencing)
  • Resource analysis and advocacy to fill gaps including making recommendations for securing resources from VA and non-VA funded programs
