Volunteering your time and sharing your skills are wonderful ways to take action to help homeless people because the organizations providing housing and services often rely on volunteers to help them accomplish their mission and purpose.
As the lead agency for the homeless continuum of care (CoC) in Tampa-Hillsborough County, THHI is in essence an administrative office overseeing the continuum of care. We are funded by mostly government sources to ensure proper staffing to fulfill our mission and purpose. Therefore our volunteer needs are limited to the annual Homeless Count and an occasional special event or project in which we may be involved.
If you would like to be notified when we do have volunteer opportunities for special events, please sign up for our volunteer email alerts.
Annual Homeless Count Volunteers
Our greatest volunteer need is during the annual homeless count in Hillsborough County, which is held each year on the last Thursday of February. We need hundreds of volunteers that are willing to canvass the county in search of homeless men, women and children, and to conduct the count survey with each person encountered.
Note: 2016 Homeless Count Volunteer Information will be posted in late 2015 – early 2016.
Other Organizations Need Your Help
While THHI may not have a volunteer opportunity for you, there are dozens of other organizations within the Tampa-Hillsborough County CoC that can utilize your time and talents.
Please visit our CoC Members page for a list of these organizations, and links to their websites.
