The Unaccompanied Youth Committee, subcommittee of the Service and Delivery Committee, is a working group of the Tampa/Hillsborough County Continuum of Care. Comprised of representatives from the school district, foster care system, youth-focused medical services, youth advocates, youth service providers, and the faith community; the committee works to assess the unaccompanied youth population and develop a plan to address their needs for stable housing, transportation, jobs, education, health care and supportive relationships. The objectives of the committee are as follows;
- Develop a Comprehensive Outreach and Engagement Plan for literally homeless youth.
- Identify the agencies and services available for homeless youth within the CoC geographic area.
- Oversee the use of the Unaccompanied Youth By-Name List to identify the needs of the homeless youth and ways to assist them.
- Establish a recruitment strategy for engaging homeless, formerly homeless, and/or non-homeless youth/students to serve as ambassadors.
