Homeless prevention programs aim to prevent people from becoming literally homeless – meaning living on the street or in a homeless shelter.  This assistance may include one-time or short-term rental and utility assistance, case management, connections to other community resources, budgeting, and assisting households with identifying other viable options to keep them off the street such as doubling up and/or helping negotiating agreements related to living doubled up.
